Sherlock, I can promise you that physically pleasuring yourself will not hurt you. In fact, I'm fairly sure that not taking care of it at all when the need arises is just as likely to cause you problems.

Yes, I'm quite certain women do it, too. The method would be different of course, but that need for relief still exists. It's often part of why extramarital affairs are so common.
